Drew is an experienced leadership and organization development practitioner with a background spanning a broad range of industries including Government, Healthcare, Technology, Coaching and Consulting, Oil and Gas, and Not-for-Profit associations.
He holds an MA in Leadership from Royal Roads University in Victoria, Canada, and an MSc in Organizational Psychology (Distinction) from the University of London, England, where he also received the Centennial Award for the highest GPA in the graduating class. He is a member of the Canadian Psychology Association, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (a division of the American Psychological Association).
Drew is currently a faculty member with the Executive Education Division at the University of Alberta, instructing on topics including Leadership, Strategic Human Resource Management, Team Leadership and Effectiveness, Organizational Change, and Organizational Development. Clients for these courses and workshops include the Government of Alberta, the Government of the Northwest Territories, the Alberta Energy Regulator, Canadian National Energy Board, Norquest College, the Alberta Union of Municipalities, as well as a broad range of private clients. Drew is also an invited speaker at the Conference Board of Canada’s Directors College on the topic of Leadership and Emotional Intelligence.
Drew has led numerous organizational consulting projects including the design and implementation of small and large-scale leadership development, talent management, and succession planning initiatives. Drew was one of the co-founders of the British Columbia Healthcare Leadership Development Collaborative, a joint effort by the seven BC health authorities (comprising more than 60,000 employees) to develop a cohesive approach to the identification, development, and engagement of leaders within the healthcare system. This project, one of few ever to receive independent funding from the BC Ministry of Health, continues to grow in scale after almost five years and includes the only known cross-organizational leadership mentoring program in Canada.
Drew has extensive experience in the use of psychometric assessments and is a Premier Partner and approved certifying trainer for a number of tools including the Emotional Intelligence EQ-i and EQ360 instruments, the Risk Type Compass assessment, and the Pearman Type Indicator. He is also a qualified MBTI practitioner, as well as holding certifications for the Hogan HDS, HPI, and MVPI instruments. He also has extensive experience with a broad range of other self and multi-rater assessments.
In his private practice, Drew works directly with select clients from both the private and public sectors to develop effective leadership talent management practices, programs and processes. He also supports leaders from a range of organizations, and at all organizational levels, coaching and mentoring on day-to-day business issues and longterm strategic challenges. His engaging style and depth of subject matter knowledge makes him a sought after presenter and facilitator on a wide range of topics.
